T minus 9

I’m approaching my last week at the firm and up to my neck completing and polishing documentation on the various systems and technologies at play here, it serves as a pretty good reminder as to how much things have changed since I arrived four years ago.

Back then, the ideas of unified messaging and comms were just ‘nice to haves’, possible enhancements to what we had (and were at the time satisfied by) but by no means vital.

Today, the prospect of moving on to an org without these tools is like some kind of scheduled amputation - it’s safe to say I’m going to miss it.

Bit of a stealth release, but SP1 for O2007 is apparently out today.

RIP 360

It happened a few days ago but I thought I’d post to raise my hand as one of the affected - my Xbox 360 died this week. Oh noes. Red ring of doooom.

To its credit, it was one of the original units and lasted almost 18 months before the red ring of uh-oh appeared. Bleh.

Thankfully Microsoft are covering repairs of all units up to three years old with this problem so it’s just a matter of packaging it up and being without it for almost a month. Ugh.

Adding insult to injury PGR4 went missing in the recent postal strikes, only to arrive a couple of days ago, so it will be almost two months from release to me being able to fire it up. Bleh. Ugh. Bah.

November Get-PSUGUK Meeting

Our November meeting is happening on the 20th at Clarkslegal LLP in Reading. I believe three presenters are scheduled - Ben Pierce and James O’Neill of Microsoft, and Adam Bell. We’re working on some swag for the meeting, more news when we have it.

The plan is to have another crack at broadcasting this via LiveMeeting, I think we worked out most of the bugs last time so this months session should go off without a hitch ;)

I’ll post the topics when Richards confirms them, hopefully this week.Update: Adam has more info here.
